Kommentar		I have to disagree with Dude. One year ago means approximately a year ago; "to the day" is there to emphasis that it was indeed precisely one year a ago. It's the same as the difference between "in two weeks" and "two weeks tomorrow", one is approximate, the other specific. Hoepe this clarifies any potential misunderstanding....

Kommentar		@sirshaneyboy: unless I'm horribly mistaken, "heute" still means "today," even in this world of rappers and hip-hoppers who so love to mutilate the English language. So, if LaLinda says she was in London "heute vor genau einem Jahr," to me, that means "a year ago today." Maybe it doesn't mean the same to you, though. Your suggestion, "a year ago to the day," can mean a year ago from any old date, for example "a year ago from the day of the accident," or whatever.
